High Voltage Cable
See full range below
We supply a range of High Voltage (HV) cables with a voltage rating of up to 110kV, manufactured in accordance with a wide range International Standards, including IEC 60840 and HRN HD 632. This range is available with copper (Cu) or aluminium (Al) conductors and are generally bespoke to ensure that they meet the application’s specific requirements.
High Voltage cables differ from lower voltage cables in that they have additional internal layers in the insulation jacket to control the electric field around the conductor. Unlike conductor cable, HV cables comprise one or more conductors, insulation and a protective oversheathing which prevents the conductor from coming into contact with surrounding objects or with people. Due to its important role in preventing current leakage, the properties of the cable’s insulation must be suitable to its environment, which may include mechanical stress and ozone exposure.
HV cables can be used in applications requiring various lengths. Typically, shorter lengths are used to power equipment, while longer runs tend to be found within buildings, industrial plant and power supply or distribution applications. The longest runs of HV cables are mostly submarine cables stretching between countries and continents.
